In 2000, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology provided a grant to develop a forecast map that graphically depicted how advances in technology will impact the future of education. Along with the Institute for the Future (IFTF), a research and forecasting organization based in California’s Silicon Valley, we were asked to develop a map that illustrated the “big picture” and assisted decision-making related to technology in education.
Using our facilitation expertise in an online environment, we held several online workshops to gather data and test versions of an emerging educational technology Grove Storymap™ and Storybook. Since the materials’ completion, school districts across the United States have been exposed to the work as a way to plan their response to the coming changes.
